Interactive Whiteboards

Interactive whiteboards (IWB) are becoming more and more popular in school classrooms.  The IWB is a combination of a computer and a whiteboard that can be used for images, audio, video, and interactive learning.  These IWB are a great way to incorporate 21st century technology skills into learning since they can be used for presentations, lessons, note taking, educational software programs, diagrams, and many other things that can be found on a computer.  Students and teachers are able to see everything on these boards that they could see on a computer screen.  Just like a whiteboard, the students and the teacher can use a special pen-like tool to draw and write on the screen.  This pen-like tool is also just like the mouse of a computer, it is used to click, drag, and point on the screen.  Whether teachers are presenting a lesson to students on the IWB or if the students are coming up to the IWB to write or draw something, the interactive whiteboards allow students to really become involved in their learning through technology.
